Ready for Spring by: Jan Knobbe
We all know the old saying “March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb”. Well those of us on the Chariots of Fire racing team cannot wait for the lamb. Spring can’t come soon enough. It is kinda opposite what is happening with the race team, instead of old man winter leaving, young Jake has moved on with his adventure in Denver while older man (relatively speaking) Shayne is coming into the fold as our new driver. Shayne Windels, one of our long time customers, happens to have a need for speed. He has agreed to be our new rider for both our Super Gas and Pro Gas drag bikes. Shayne has always shown an interest in the racing end of Chariots of Fire Customs LLC, so when Jake decided to leave town, I naturally thought of Shayne.
Shayne mentioned to me that racing was on his bucket list, however, after questioning him, Shayne had a roll cage in mind, not just a helmet and extra thick leathers! Shayne had the opportunity to talk with Jake before he left town to get a few pointers. I do believe Jake told him to hold on tight and aim straight. Shayne figures if a young buck like Jake can do it, so can he. Also, it helped that the gear fit him perfect.
So as spring hits and the riding season gets underway, we will keep you up to date with the racing team’s progress. In the mean time, keep the shiny side up!
